Everything you need to introduce Binda to a family.

This page is for people who recommend tools to families caring for someone — agencies, communities, care managers, advisors. It says plainly what Binda is, who it's for, what it costs, and gives you the words and images to pass on. Nothing here needs permission to reuse.

In one paragraph

The boilerplate.

Binda is a care-coordination app for families looking after an aging parent or loved one. It brings family members, professional caregivers and doctors into one shared care plan — medications, caregiver shifts and hours, daily notes, appointments, and a calm family update feed — so everyone knows what's happening and no one carries it alone. Caregivers, family and doctors use it free; the family coordinator pays. Binda is on the App Store, Google Play, and the web.

Shorter: Binda keeps everyone caring for your loved one on the same page.

Origin story

Two people its founder loves, and one night in the fire.

Written in the third person so it can be quoted or lifted directly.

In September 2020, the Holiday Farm Fire broke out six miles from the home of Bob's mother in Oregon. A lifelong hiker who could always outpace her son on the trail, she woke around midnight to find her house burning. Neighbors pounded on her door to wake her before escaping. The five minutes she spent getting dressed and out were enough for the fire to surround her, and fallen trees had closed the roads. She took refuge on a nearby running track and waited there, with fire all around, for 18 hours until rescuers could reach her.

She survived. In the time that followed, she began showing signs of dementia, which her family believes is linked to the smoke she inhaled that night. Today she is cared for in a family member's home. But her medical history, appointments, documents and daily updates were scattered across texts, emails, file folders, or nowhere at all.

At the same time, a close friend of Bob's, then 65, asked him to serve as her power of attorney. Soon after, she was diagnosed with dementia. Bob found himself selling her home and car, moving her into a progressive residential community, and hiring a three-person care team, while coordinating doctors, caregivers, family, timesheets and expenses. As her POA, he also carried a legal responsibility: every decision had to be defensible as being in his friend's best interest.

Having spent his career in the technology sector, Bob turned to technology for the answer. The result is Binda, a single place where families, care teams and doctors share appointments, updates, medical history and documents, with every action recorded and visible to everyone who needs to see it.

The name comes from his mother's family name, Binder, and from what the app does: like a binder, it holds everything and connects everyone.

Founder bio

Bob, Founder of Binda. Bob has spent his career in the technology sector. When he became the coordinator of care for two people living with dementia — his mother and a close friend for whom he serves as power of attorney — he saw firsthand how scattered communication strains families and care teams. He founded Binda to give everyone caring for a person with dementia one shared, trusted place to stay in the loop.

Quotable

  • “Love doesn't keep a care team organized. Everyone was trying. No one had the whole picture.”
  • “As a power of attorney, it wasn't enough to believe I was acting in her best interest. I needed to be able to show it.”
  • “Dementia takes so much from a family. It shouldn't also take away their ability to work together.”

In 50 words: Binda was born from two dementia journeys — Bob's mother, who survived 18 hours trapped by Oregon's Holiday Farm Fire, and a close friend who asked him to be her power of attorney. Named for his mother's family name, Binder, Binda keeps families, caregivers and doctors in one place.

Where it fits

How partners use Binda.

Home-care agencies

Your caregivers use Binda free, on their own phones, with the family seeing exactly what you allow — shift notes, doses given, hours. The family pays; you gain a record you didn't have to build.

Senior-living & memory-care communities

Families who split care between your staff and their own time get one shared picture. The dementia guides and tasks match the conversations your staff already have.

Geriatric care managers & social workers

Set up a family's circle once, hand it over, and keep an invited seat with the access you need — or none. The respite-worker role covers the temporary help you arrange.

Elder-law & financial planners

Caregiver hours, mileage and expenses are logged as they happen and exportable — the records a reimbursement program or a family agreement needs.

What it does

The features, in the words we use.

Medications

A calm what's-due-now view, one-tap dose logging with optional photo confirmation, and an alert to the manager when a dose is given far outside its window.

Shifts, hours & expenses

Who's on today, clock in and out, handoff notes, timesheets, mileage and receipts — approved by the manager, kept private from family.

Notes & a plain summary

A shared care journal — mood, meals, sleep, mobility, pain — with an AI-written digest of the week or month so nobody reads 200 entries to catch up.

Doctors & appointments

A provider directory, appointment scheduling, and the option to invite a doctor with limited, manager-controlled access.

Family update feed

Warm, plain-language updates the whole family can see and respond to — the calm version, separate from the clinical detail.

Respite workers

Short-term help gets a limited invite: today's schedule and medications, their own visit notes, and a 60-day summary — not the family's notes. Pause between visits.

A check-in on the carer

A private weekly check-in on how the caregiver is doing, with plain-language results and resources. If a result is concerning, the 988 Lifeline is shown first. Not a screening tool.

Dementia support

With a diagnosis set, ten short caregiver guides and suggested daily tasks. General information for families, not medical advice.

The full walkthrough is on the features page; step-by-step help is in the support centre.
